GlobalSign is transitioning to new Alpha SSL root certificates

GlobalSign Alpha SSL R6

The certification authority recently announced the migration from the R1 to R6 hierarchy of Alpha SSL root certificates to comply with the updated Mozilla root store policy and CA/B Forum requirements.

Starting from January 29, 2024, all certificate reissuance or renewal procedures will be automatically handled through the new issuing R6 CA, known as GlobalSign GCC R6 AlphaSSL CA 2023.

After this date, all issued certificates (including renewals) will require the installation of the new intermediate certificate.

If you currently have an active GlobalSign certificate, you do not need to take any action.

Certificates issued by the R1 CA will continue to function throughout their validity period without needing reissuance. However, if your certificate is reissued for any other reason, it will need to be installed along with the new intermediate certificate.

If you are currently purchasing a GlobalSign certificate or renewing a certificate that is expiring, and the new certificate is issued after January 29, 2024, you will need to install your certificate along with the new intermediate certificate.
